Refracting Telescope Facts

Refracting or Refractor Telescope as we all know uses lenses to produce an image of the object. These were the first telescope developed and to be used in 1608. They were mainly used in spyglasses and astronomical telescopes. Although they are not the best type of telescopes but are best options for beginners and each and every element on this earth has its own facts and so does refracting telescope. Refractors are , in my opinion , a superior design for a telescope.

Interesting and Unknown facts about Refracting Telescope:
  • Wisconsin is the largest refracting telescope in the world and it was built in 1897.
  • Refracting telescope are the best option for a beginning sky observer.
  •  The largest size of a lens in this telescope is 1 meter.
  • Johannes Hevelis was the one who built a refractor telescope that was 158 feet long and was difficult to use.
  • Concave and convex lens are the to lenses used inside the refracting telescope.
  • Refractor lens are better used in binoculars and gun scopes.
  • Galileo's best refracting telescope was able to magnify an object 30 times.
  • These telescopes were the first type of telescopes used by ancient astronomers.
  • Refractor telescope is sometimes more better than reflecting telescope.
  • A newer version of the refractor telescope emerged in 1733 with different enhanced lenses and is called achromatic telescope.
  • Refracting telescope utilize a large chunk of glass that is ground and polished on both sides.
  • The Hubble telescope is a refractor that weighs 24,500lbs and orbits the earth in 96 minutes and is powered by solar system.
  • A refracting telescope uses mirrors to bounce the light into the eyepiece of the telescope.
So these were some of the amazing and interesting facts about Refracting Telescope.

You need to do more research. This article is fucking terrible. The Hubble is a REFLECTING scope not refractor you idiot. Refractors are not more powerful than Reflectors.
